Cover Cravings #5: Hands

A weekly feature on my blog where I post up cover images that fit a weekly theme - art styles, artists, colour schemes, etc. In essence, this is a meme that celebrates book covers as pieces of art. Covers link to larger images and titles to goodreads summaries.

This week's theme: Hands
single hands, pairs of hands, holding hands, fingers...

Examples

1) individual's hand(s)

Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
A Banquet for Hungry Ghosts by Ying Chang Compestine
The Surrendered by Chang-Rae Lee
The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner
A Crack in the Line by Michael Lawrence

2) holding hands

The Girl with the Glass Feet by Ali Shaw
Sing Me to Sleep by Angela Morrison
Empress of the World by Sara Ryan
Something Like Fate by Susane Colasanti

Your Suggestions

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer, suggested by: NatalieSap

My Thoughts

Hands are very expressive. I've always adored looking at hands because they make so many shapes and can form so many meanings. As someone who draws for a hobby, hands are almost always the hardest to draw, so I spend a lot of time studying their structure and lines. I also love pictures of people touching hands. Whether it's holding, engaging in a pinky swear (couldn't find an example, sadly), or even just hooking one or two fingers together.

Feel free to add any examples I may have missed in the comments and I'll add them to the post! It's disastrously hard to search cover images manually =X

Ooh I love the Sing me to sleep cover!! I think though that the "The Girl With Glass Feet" & "Sing Me To Sleep Cover" look the same. The hands anyway.

@ Book Monster
between girl with glass feet and sing me to sleep I think I like the latter better, just because theirs seem more intimate while the first looks more like tentative touching...or even a small pinky swear? lol

Well, I'm not sure if this was an honest overlooking or a deliberate omission, but there's the Twilight cover. :) There must be tons of others, but I'm drawing a blank.
