Each week I will post a list of the books I've borrowed, received, or bought. I will keep a weekly tally in each post, as well as a yearly one on the sidebar. All books with PoC themes/authors will be listed for the "New Crayons" meme.
All prices are listed in Canadian dollars.
(hosted weekly by The Story Siren / The Printed Page; New Crayons by Color Online)

Only one book this week, but what an AWESOME one it is!
Bleeding Violet ⇒ New Crayon!
by Dia Reeves
Love can be a dangerous thing...
Hanna simply wants to be loved. With a head plagued by hallucinations, a medicine cabinet full of pills, and a closet stuffed with frilly, violet dresses, Hanna's tired of being the outcast, the weird girl, the freak. So she runs away to Portero, Texas in search of a new home.
But Portero is a stranger town than Hanna expects. As she tries to make a place for herself, she discovers dark secrets that would terrify any normal soul. Good thing for Hanna, she's far from normal. As this crazy girl meets an even crazier town, only two things are certain: Anything can happen and no one is safe.
OH MY THIS SOUNDS SO WONDERFUL. I don't know why but I was in an extremely desperate mood for a ghost/horror story right about the time news of this book's release started circulating. By the time Ah Yuan started squealing every time this title was mentioned, I was already very much invested in buying my own copy - especially after I saw the full cover spread(!!!) - though I hesitated a while since I've entered a few contests to try and win it. And win I did, from a choice-of-Jan-releases contest wherein I specifically requested this book despite it not being on the prize list - thank you so much Doug! So yes, I'm pretty sure this will be an epic read ♥
Won from SciFiGuy *hardcover
Subsequently, I also won a copy of Nancy Holzner's zombie/undead-city paranormal fantasy
Deadtown from SciFiGuy! That's two in a row! Lucky me =D
Not sure if anyone cares, but I finally finished the cross-stitch! Now all it needs is a frame...which is cheaper to get done in China, and it will be less hassle if I brought it overseas in roll-able form anyways XD;
Hooray! This means I can now dedicate more of my time to reading! Though I'm getting awfully addicted to audiobooks...I love multi-tasking - doing only one thing at a time makes me feel like I'm wasting my other faculties lol - and audiobooks free up my hands so readily =D I've already gone through the first two Sherlock Holmes audiobooks (read by John Telfer, who has a great voice btw) and am now listening to more plus Another Faust by the Nayeri siblings (which also has an awesome and ranged narrator ♥) Reviews for the audiobooks will be up sometime this week, hopefully =)

Hi there. I read Bleeding Violet last week. If you want to check out my review... www.sarahdarlington.com but sadly it wasn't my favorite. I hope you like though. And happy reading.
Hope you enjoy the book.
Oh. My. Gosh. I LOVE that cross stitch! It is gorgeous. I haven't done any needlework in years, but I can imagine how much time and work must've been involved.
I hope you enjoy Bleeding Violet.

What a lovely cross stitch. I used to do that all the time and then moved on to needlepoint. Now I read in my free time. Enjoy your books this week!
